Online and 24/7 across Glasgow on 87.9FM
Midnight April 12th, 2015 — Midnight April 19th, 2015
Radiophrenia is a temporary art radio station – a week-long exploration into current trends in sound and transmission arts. Broadcasting live from Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts, it aims to promote radio as an art form, encourages challenging and radical new approaches to the medium. Mark Vernon and Barry Burns manage the station and Creative Scotland Quality Production Award, with additional support from CCA Glasgow, are founding it.
As an integral part of this celebration of the best and most innovative ideas in radio art, Radiophrenia also present a series of specially commissioned ‘live-to-air’ performances. Selected artists will create a work that is simultaneously a live performance and a radio broadcast, reflecting the fact that there will be an audience present in the theatre in addition to an unseen audience of listeners at home. Commissioned artists include; Felix Kubin, The Resonance Radio Orchestra, Shelly Nadashi, Peter Lanceley, Kathryn Elkin, Nichola Scrutton, Elizabeth Veldon and Jim Colquhoun. Performances will take place at 7pm daily (doors 6.45) in the CCA Theatre space. Each of these events is free and open to the public. Free but ticketed: Tickets available from CCA Box Office
